Short version: BitePeak uses your location only to fetch local weather forecasts. We don't collect personal data, don't require an account, and don't share anything with third parties beyond the weather API request.

2. Information we collect
BitePeak collects the minimum information necessary to provide fishing forecasts.
Location data
If you grant location permission, the app uses your device's GPS coordinates to fetch localised weather data from the Open-Meteo API and to compute solunar timings for your area. This request is made directly from your device to Open-Meteo's servers. We do not receive, store, or log your location on any server we operate.
Fishing spots
Spots you save (name and coordinates) are stored locally on your device using iOS storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
App preferences
Settings such as your selected spot and onboarding status are stored locally on your device. We have no access to this data.
3. Information we do not collect
- Name, email address, or any account information
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or crash reports
- Purchase history
- Any data linked to your identity
4. Third-party services
Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com)
BitePeak uses the Open-Meteo API to retrieve weather forecasts. When a forecast is requested, your device sends the coordinates of your selected fishing spot to Open-Meteo's servers. Please refer to the Open-Meteo privacy policy for details on how they handle API requests.
We do not use any advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or other third-party services.
5. How we use your information
The only use of your location is to provide you with localised fishing forecasts. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the core functionality of the app.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third party, except as described above (weather API requests made by your device directly).
7. Data retention
Because we do not collect or store data on our servers, there is no retention period to speak of. All data (spots, preferences) lives on your device and can be removed at any time by deleting the app.
8. Children's privacy
BitePeak is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.
9. Your rights
Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no data for us to provide, correct, or delete on your behalf. You can remove all locally stored data at any time by deleting BitePeak from your device.
